Roger Newell, President
Campaign Communications Specialist, International Brotherhood of Teamsters
A graduate of DC Public Schools, Mr. Newell is an award winning education and labor journalist and community activist. He currently serves as an internal and external communications specialist with the 1.4 million-member Teamsters Union, working with public sector workers, including thousands employed by school districts, such as the District of Columbia.
Jason Franklin, Treasurer
Executive Director, Bolder Giving, New York, NY
Jason has extensive experience as a national donor educator and leader with over a decade of volunteer, professional and scholarly experience in philanthropic and social change work. Currently the executive director of Bolder Giving, he also serves on the boards of the Resource Generation, North Star Fund, and Social Justice Philanthropy Collaborative and on the advisory board of Wealth for the Common Good. He is also a lecturer on Public Administration and Doctoral Candidate at New York University's Wagner School of Public Service. Jason has an MS in Urban Policy and Nonprofit Management from the New School's Milano Graduate School and a BA in Political Communication from the George Washington University.

Mary Filardo
Executive Director, 21st Century School Fund, Washington, DC
Ms. Filardo is the founder and executive director of the 21st Century
School Fund, providing leadership, innovative financing solutions, research,
and public policy analysis of school facility issues. Before founding
21CSF, she worked for 25 years in the private sector in building and construction
management. She has been an active parent volunteer in the sixteen years
her children have been in public school.
Barbara Somson
Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs, United Auto Workers, Washington,
DC
Representing the interests of union workers across the country, Ms. Somson
regularly works with leading national decision-makers on a variety of
issues. Ms. Somson has children in the public school system, is a parent
and community activist and worked on District legislative affairs as part
of District of Columbia City Council member Kathy Patterson's staff before
becoming joining the UAW.
Marni Allen
Swanee Hunt Family Office
Marni Allen is Senior Advisor to Ambassador Swanee Hunt, the Eleanor Roosevelt Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School and President of Hunt Alternatives Fund. She provides strategic direction for Ambassador Hunt's academic and political activities. Prior to working with Ambassador Hunt, Ms. Allen was the Director of Policy and Research at the 21st Century School Fund, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization dedicated to building the public will and capacity to improve urban public school facilities. She also worked at the Brookings Greater Washington Research Program, where she led a research team working on the intersection of investments in school quality, affordable housing, and neighborhood development in the District of Columbia. She received her Master's of Public Policy at the Georgetown University Public Policy Institute and received her B.A. in Political Science from Swarthmore College.
Erica Louison
Associate Director, District of Columbia Parent Information Resource Center
Erica Louison, is responsible for managing the citywide parent engagement programs and activities of the D.C. Parent Information Resource Center (DC PIRC). She has been professionally active in the social services and education arena for over 15 years. She received her Master's of Non-Profit Administration from Trinity University and her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh.
